Welcome to the online home of the University Democrats at UT-Austin. Established
in 1953, the University Democrats is the oldest political organization and the leading voice of progressive activism at the
University of Texas at Austin. Our group is known for a strong, dedicated membership that stays active in local, state, and
national politics.
Currently, the University Democrats has an extended membership of over 1,800
students and an active membership of nearly 250, making it one of the largest college Democratic groups in the nation. University
Democrats sponsors speakers, debates and forums on campus, educates the campus community on crucial political issues, supports
local and national Democratic candidates, and much more.
In the upcoming year, we
hope to continue our success and expand upon it by branching out in different areas, including increased community and volunteer
work. Please come join us this year at one of our meetings. We meet every Wednesday evening at 8:00pm in Mezes Hall (MEZ 1.306).
Our meetings are open to all UT students, faculty, and community. We have an exciting year planned and would love to have
you be a part of it.
